April 2008 - Audio Network wins Queen's Award for Enterprise 2008

Andrew Sunnucks, Co-founder of Audio Network, the UK’s market leading music service, today announces the company’s receipt of a Queen’s Award for Innovation. Audio Network is one of only a few media companies to have ever won the award and is in recognition of their pioneering approach to music licensing.

Audio Network boasts a library of more than 15,000 tracks, which uniquely are pre-cleared for use and distribution across multi-platforms, all territories, forever. The company’s receipt of The Queen's Award for Innovation today recognises its achievements in composing, recording and digitising their entire library, along with a further 50,000 sound effects. It also commends Audio Network’s innovative business model: because Audio Network owns both the copyright and recording rights in all of its music, it has simplified the traditionally complex licensing procedure. All content producers, from the professional through to UGC producers at home, can search for a track, download it and license directly from the Audio Network website. Their comprehensive license means that producers never have to worry where or how their content is distributed.

Audio Network’s ability to meet the music licensing needs of producers, alongside a customer focused approach, has driven 7 years of double digit year-on-year growth for the business, a stark contrast to other music businesses.

The traditional approach to music licensing has found it difficult to adapt to the digital age, leaving producers of TV, film and advertising frustrated by a patchwork of licenses that struggle to cover the rapidly changing methods of content distribution. Audio Network has become a benchmark solution, offering a license without exceptions that will always meet changing consumer demands. This model has created a stir in the industry and has left traditional music players grappling to fulfil the requirements of audio-visual producers.

The Queen’s Award acknowledges Audio Network as the first business to develop a rights-cleared solution which meets the requirements of media producers. It also honours the company’s proactive approach to technological advances, including the entire library available in 5.1 surround sound and intuitive online search functionality. Audio Network’s growth has been organic since its inception in 2001, growth which is set to continue as its second office in the US (located in New York, following the LA office which opened Q4 2007) will see the activation of an aggressive marketing plan.

Commenting on the award, Andrew Sunnucks, Audio Network’s Managing Director and Co-founder said "We are very proud to receive this reputable accolade. Audio Network’s forward-thinking business model has been devised in a way that means we can move with the times and satisfy consumer demand. I would like to congratulate all the people on board who have made this possible."
